Calligraphies in Arabic Script at the Frontiers of the Islamicate World (CallFront) is a project devoted to the study of calligraphic styles in Arabic characters emanating from the Iberian Peninsula, the Maghrib, sub-Saharan Africa, Anatolia, the Balkans, India, Southeast Asia, and China.
This project is directed by Eloïse Brac de la Perrière in collaboration with Maxime Durocher and has been selected by the French National Research Agency (ANR-22-CE54-0015). It is also supported by the Institut National d'Histoire de l'Art, Sorbonne University, the UMR 8167 Orient et Méditerranée, the Observatoire des Patrimoines de Sorbonne Université (OPUS), Barakat Trust, and the Max van Berchem Foundation.
